This is the first documentary about Colombian hiphop. It
was made in order to promote this movement to the world.
Our goal with the making of the documentary was to acquire
financial backing, so as to help to strengthen this positive
youth movement existent within a war torn country.
The documentary was made with no budget, out of pure solidarity.
60% of it is stock footage shot between 1994 and 2000, the
rest was shot from May to July 2000. It was subtitled a
couple of months later in New York City.
The documentary is about hiphop in Colombia, and the difficulties
that the youth faces after 40 years of war. Taking you from
Bogota to Cali to Medellin, it depicts the history of the
arrival of hiphop in Colombia, the reasons it has been so
strongly adopted by the Colombian youth, the hardships of
creating without financial or logistical support and most
importantly the beautiful positive movement that it has
become.
Screened
in 23 festivals in Colombia, the USA and Europe.
Awarded - "Best Documentary Short", H20 Film Festival.
